	Very few people know that I studied abroad in my youth. Although my German was not really good, I was awarded a bursary to study there in 1938. They were very progressive - they even allowed me to take along a few henchmen.
		Portrait study done of me at a youth camp held in Austria. I was still young and idealistic then. My favourite subject was "Scorched Earth - The Do's and Don'ts".


		Here I am practising the local form of greeting. It was difficult, but my tutors assured me that I showed a lot of promise.
