Here’s how we’ve grown, evolved, and kept pushing South African online business forward. One milestone at a time.
1999
Before founding bidorbuy, Andy Higgins was making waves in Europe’s early ecommerce scene. In 1999, he brought that expertise home, kickstarting South Africa’s online shopping revolution.
2004
As the internet boom hit SA, bidorbuy soared while price comparison site Jump Shopping, founded by Jaco Roux, was also gaining speed. Two ecommerce pioneers, one shared passion. A future partnership was inevitable.
2012
That partnership became reality in 2012, giving birth to uAfrica. With bidorbuy and uAfrica joining forces, South Africa’s ecommerce landscape had a new powerhouse.
2022
Fast-forward to 2022: uAfrica became Bob Go, bidorbuy evolved into Bob Shop, and Bob Group was born. Add Bob Box, Bob Pay, and Ship Logic, and you’ve got a full-on ecommerce ecosystem built to help South Africans buy, sell, and ship smarter.
2025
At Bob, things never stand still, and this year we successfully unbundled the Shiplogic unit, the end-to-end logistics Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, and launched Bob Box as South Africa's first open (agnostic) parcel locker network.
