After helping to launch online auction websites in the UK, Germany, France, and Italy, Andy Higgins returned to South Africa, where he had seen that there were huge ecommerce opportunities. Following the launch of bidorbuy in 1999, the company went through challenging times in the early years of internet expansion in SA.

As more and more South Africans became active online, bidorbuy really began to take off. Andy linked up with Jaco Roux, founder of online price comparison engine Jump. Their shared passion for the potential of the internet led to the founding of fulfilment specialist uAfrica. Under the leadership of Craig Lubbe, bidorbuy worked closely with uAfrica to integrate their systems and expand their offerings.

Fast forward to 2022, and the two companies had come full circle, and now it was the turn of uAfrica to invest in bidorbuy. Having bought 100% of the shares in bidorbuy, they introduced a radical new idea: a single company that would offer everything ecommerce to everyone and make online buying and selling more accessible and inclusive. That unified company is Bob Group. Inspired by our shared history of entrepreneurship and overcoming adversity, Bob Group will empower future ecommerce success stories by providing the tools and services that budding online businesses need.
