Menlyn, Gauteng, South Africa – 28 July 2025
Bob Box, a provider of out-of-home (OOH) parcel locker infrastructure for the delivery industry and part of Bob, a South African ecommerce and fintech company, today announced the official launch of South Africa’s first agnostic parcel locker network. This initiative will open its locker infrastructure to all courier companies and retailers, aiming to create a more efficient, accessible, and sustainable last-mile delivery ecosystem across the country.
Traditionally, parcel locker networks have been proprietary, limiting use to a single courier. Bob Box’s agnostic model allows any courier or merchant – regardless of their size or technology – to use its locker network for parcel drop-off and collection. This approach helps couriers avoid the high costs and specific technological demands of building and maintaining individual locker infrastructures.
“The future of efficient delivery in South Africa benefits from shared infrastructure,” says Anita Erasmus, Head of Business at Bob. “An agnostic locker network is important for addressing local challenges and ensuring smooth, cost-effective parcel collection and delivery. This allows couriers to focus on their primary business of delivering parcels, while we manage the network.”
The Bob Box network is designed for South Africa’s logistical environment. Its battery-powered lockers operate effectively even in areas with limited power or internet access, supporting accessibility and reliable service in diverse conditions. With over 200 locations operational, Bob Box is expanding in major metros, supported by Bob’s established infrastructure.
